The New York Community Trust Leadership Fellows

Questions for Communications Part 2

1)       What did you find memorable or applicable in the readings? In other words, what will you take away and apply from the readings in your communication understandings or behaviors.

2)       What are at least two big questions you have about the week’s readings from a personal or professional perspective? (Note: These questions can be about individual readings or the readings as a whole for that week).

Post as you wish

At last, NYCT Fellows can write and share their own posts.
We’d like the Blog to welcome any subject you’d like to discuss (branding and salary came up in the last class, for example).
I suggest in order to organize posts, so that other fellows can respond and read them, you give your post a category before you publish it. (When you write a post, you will see the categories listed on your right. Simply check the box next to whichever category you choose before you “publish” your post.
Categories: There are several categories available–I’ve listed the topics of fellows’ initiatives, as well as topics that have come up in class.
You can also create your own category– if you’d like to do this, please let me know.
Otherwise, you’re free to post on any issue you think relevant, share any thoughts you’d like.
On privacy: This site is not searchable– a person would need to know about the site in order to find it. If you choose to, you can make your own post private, by clicking on the “private” option, which is next to the “public” option to the right of the screen when you write a post. This allows you to share your post only among people with whom you share a password. If you have questions or comments about privacy as an issue on this site, please reach out to Linell and/or Michael.

Question for Social Media: Strategic Development

To answer the question for the class Social Media: Strategic Development, please refer to pages 14-32 in this reading: “Building Deeper Relationships: How Steppenwolf Theatre Company Is Turning Single-Ticket Buyers Into Repeat Visitors.”  It can be found at this site: http://www.wallacefoundation.org/knowledge-center/audience-development-for-the-arts/strategies-for-expanding-audiences/Documents/Building-Deeper-Relationships.pdf

How do you envision ways to further engage your audience (whether they be donors, subscribers, non-subscribers, or other groups) using “The Engagement Strategy” as a means to energize your organization and to ensure its relevance and ability to thrive in current and future years?

Framing questions: Communications, Part 1

  • What did you find memorable or applicable in the readings? In other words, what can you take away and apply from the readings in your own communication? And the governance of your organizations?
  • How do this week’s readings relate to your major initiative/project?
  • What is the best idea you’ve learned about effective communication?
