  1. What qualities and behaviors would you expect from your ideal mentor?
An Ideal mentor to me would have your best interest in mine. When I say best interest, I mean someone who actually cares about your professional or personal growth. An Ideal mentor will see their time of teaching as an investment, planting a seeds and watching it grow.
Describe the best boss you ever had. What made them special?
The Best Supervisor I have ever had is my current executive director Ms. Patricia Simon. She has been teaching me the ins and outs of what it takes to be an Executive Director. She has challenged, criticized, and dissected my recommendations and decision making abilities for the best possible outcome. At times if may be rough, but ultimately she has how shown an interest in my professional growth. From a well read, well-traveled, well-educated woman, with many years of experience and wisdom, I am glad she has taken in interest in me.

    1) What did you find memorable or applicable in the readings? In other words, what will you take away and apply from the readings in your communication understandings or behaviors.
In the readings given to us this week, the biggest take away is self-reflection on how I verbally communicate. I have been strategic on what to say and how to say it for years. In most cases I have been able to make presentations and advocate on most topics, but readings gave me more insight on how to have more of a strategic execution. Just being able to have more structure in my thoughts as I get ready to speak.
One other fact that stood out to me in this week’s reading is the importance of writing well. I really need to brush up on my writing skills. Being able to speak and capture the crowd is one thing. The ability to capture an audience by personal interaction is great, but writing well can open even more doors of opportunity. I struggle in the area of writing. My thoughts move so fast in my mind I try to capture it all on paper. As I am thinking I am writing and not going back to reread what was written. In my mind my words sounded great as I was typing them out, but on paper it’s so jumbled. I have to work on structuring my thoughts on paper and be able to editing my words without losing my point.

    2) What are at least two big questions you have about the week’s readings from a personal or professional perspective? (Note: These questions can be about individual readings or the readings as a whole for that week).
Q1. What are some of the best ways to practice on how to think quickly and have effective decision making while keeping your personal feelings separate?
Q2. What are some of the best practices on creative thinking, and being able to speak to an audience to agree with your ideas or theory?
