The crutches that are normally sold in the United States do not offer much support to the back of the arm. Normal crutches just have a cuff in which you slip your arm into, but you need to have the ability to support your arm yourself. My European-style crutches has a backing in which you could lean your arm again and it will help provide you the stability you need.
