Are the constant adjustments of the privacy policies on Facebook providing adequate safeguards in restricting the visibility of a user’s personal information?

  1. Our questions sound similar, I think we’re researching the same topic! If I’m interpreting yours correctly, it sounds like your question implies that Facebook’s privacy policy is directly connected to protecting the user’s personal information. It protects the information from being seen by uninvited people. Your question is answered by either “Yes” or “No.”

I’m guessing that when you say “visibility,” you mean access. I think the two can be used interchangeably in the question, and the meaning of the question would not change; i think it is good that you chose to use “visibility” because it specifies the type of access – the only kind of access a person gets on Facebook, after all, is only by viewing. I’m also guessing that the restrictions serve as a shield to protect the user’s content from public viewing. However, I think you should specify, to whom this access is limited to. I think there are different kinds of protection – one that block a user’s own friends from viewing, and another kind that blocks all public access.

    Hope I helped!

I feel that your question is very focused and solid becuase it has to do with a very narrow subject, which in a way, is a good thing, becuase you know the exact question that you wish to have answered. One thing that you could change about your reserach question, however, to possibly make it better, would be to rephrase it somehow so that it wouldn’t be considered as a “yes” or “no” question; you could do this possibly by adding descriptors to your question (i.e. what, how, etc.). You might also want to think about what qualifies as “personal information.” Personal information can range from religious views or political aspects, to phone numbers or addresses. Specifying which type of personal information is in question here, might add to the overall clarity of your question. Overall, I think that the topic in question here, as well as, the question you have posed are both very good but can be made even greater with a few refinemnets. Good luck!
