I think getting rid of file sharing is kind of broad and i think you can mention specific file sharing. for example, peer to peer websites and i think you can improve quesion by adding legal file sharing or illegal file sharing or both hurt record sales.

The question doesn’t really allow for a stance on the subject. Try narrowing down so you can choose between hurt or help, you can talk about helping/hurting later to show the other sides to the argument though.

I like this topic because sharing files online would definitely very related to information ethics. However I think focusing on both hurt and help would be too broad. Choosing one between this two and be more specific about hurt or help will make the research paper better.

  4. Some of the wording in your question needs work. “Getting rid of” is somewhat inexact. In what sense do you mean it? Make file sharing software illegal completely? Make it illegal to share copyrighted material on file sharing software but allow the software to exist? Getting rid of it where? Here in the United States only? Is the file sharing taking place here in the US dwarfed by the file sharing in other countries, which might mean that banning the software here would just make a tiny dent in solving the problem? By “record sales,” you mean the sales of CDs? Do you also mean by that sales of MP3s through such legal venues as iTunes and Amazon.com? The next draft of your research question should be much more precise and probably lengthy (as it will take more words to make your question more specific and clear).
