I actually like this question a lot because it deals with a topic that it less constructed and public in a society as it is something more harder to identify with and secretive. I guess that is both a good and bad thing as it makes your essay focused but at the same time it dwells on a harder topic that might be hard to trace. The way the question is stated might cause one to think that gossip obviously plays somewhat a role and it might make it more argumentative if you shifted more onto the significance of gossip in social norms of Arab societies regarding femicide. But well thought out question and a great source is La Femme Lapidee by Sahebjam.

  2. Interesting topic! I think you’d want to focus on just one society or compare and contrast two, as trying to write on all Arab societies is just too broad. There is simply too much diversity among Arab communities around the world to write definitively and universally on the role that gossip plays in femicide in those places. Is gossip really the same in Indonesia as it is in Algeria, Somalia, Syria, and Pakistan? Also the wording of your question makes the connection between gossip and femicide hard to see. I think it is that clause tacked on at the end, “regarding femicide,” that is the problem. Try completely rewriting the sentence to see if it gets better (and don’t forget to think of a way to narrow the geography, too).
