Write a blog post in class today (7 September 2011) that addresses these two things:

About the catalog

Tell me what types of materials can be found the catalog AND what kinds of materials can’t be found in the catalog. You’ll need to explore the catalog a bit to answer this. Take no more than 5 minutes.

Key information about a book

Search for a work of fiction that you know about (a novel, a collection of short stories, a play, etc.) and then tell me the following info about that book:

  • Title of the book
  • Author of the book
  • Call number for the book
  • Location for the book
  • Status of the book
  • Due date

The easiest part of doing research is finding sources online. The hardest part is using the sources properly, such as, footnoting, quoting and writing about the sources.

The easiest part for me while doing research is being able to find general as well as accurate information about the topic which is being researched. The most difficult part for me is determining whether the website is a reliable website or not.

What is easiest/hardest for me when doing research

For me, the hardest part about doing research would have to be finding credible sources that have enough reliable information to support whatever you are working on, or having to look through a book to find details such as names or dates that might help support your argument. The easiest is finding books or general information about your topic and piecing your information together.
