  1. Danny, Danny, Danny… firstly, I would like to know how your username is just your first name? I’m pretty jealous. Get back to me.
But back on topic, after reading your research question, I noticed a spelling error. You wrote “extend” instead of “extent,” which according to the assignment guidelines: Spelling errors and grammatical mistakes will also result in a lower grade.
Other then that I feel like you specified what you’re looking for quite nicely and I believe you will be able to have a concentrated research paper.
    Good Job!

  2. I think that your idea is right but the wording of the question might be slightly off. Instead maybe you should word it: ‘To what extent has Google invested in their “Cloud Computing” section of their business?”Also I am a little unclear on how you plan to answer this question. You might want to be a little more clear on whether your research will be about the Google’s investment financially or simply in the ways in which it has integrated “Cloud computing” into it’s services. Replacing the “To what extent” with “In what ways” might possibly help. It would however require an analysis of the ways they have invested rather than the degree to which they have invested which would change your question slightly. It is an interesting topic and i think you are focused on what you want to research. It’s only my suggestions and you might be right but it just seems a little unclear to me. I hope my suggestions help.

I agree with Sharif, I feel that you have a good idea to present but your wording can be a little better. Also i think you should be a little more specific regarding Google’s “investing” in Cloud Computing. In what sense do you mean when you say Google is investing in Cloud Computing in other words. But you should definitely stick to the subject of Cloud Computing.

  4. Your classmates have offered a lot of great advice. Sherif’s comment about changing it from a “how much” to a “in what ways” kind of question is great. I’d take that a step further and maybe suggest your question would suggest a line of analysis your research might take. One thing I am wondering about is what you mean exactly by cloud computing. There have been a lot of buzzwords over the years that are connected to this concept–SaaS (software as a service), IaaS (infrastructure as a service), Paas (platform as a service)–that suggest that the term itself is one that is considered confusing even in the computer and software industry. You should definitely take a look at the recently released definition of cloud computing that the National Institute of Standards and Technology (a federal government agency) finalized recently. I think you may also want to think about what cloud computing might mean to a company like Google compared to one like Microsoft. There are a lot of more specific (and still very researchable) questions that you can get out of the topic area of Google’s efforts in the cloud computing arena. I look forward to seeing how your question changes over the rest of the semester.
