To what extent has the availability of Google search and other search engines, such as, Yahoo and Bing, affected memory retrieval of people who with access to such services?
Yuna, I think you should specify what the ‘other search engines’ are. Also ‘people’ is a bit vague, maybe you can narrow it down and focus on a certain group of people. Other than that I think your question is very interesting.
I think this question is still too broad because you’re discussing three different search engines. Maybe if you can compare and contrast the three different search engines and their effects on memory or even narrow it down to just Google and its effects on memory.
I agree with Kyung, I think its best if you narrow it down just to Google. Something along the lines of — “To what extent has the availability of search engines like Google affected the memory retrieval capabilities of its users.”
Yuna, it’s fine to mention the other search engines, as they help your reader understand that you are not just interested in the how any one search engine has affected memory. It’s unlikely that any serious researchers are doing experiments on how people’s memory is affected by any one specific search engine (it would be too hard to prove that just that one search engine is the cause of any observable behavior).
Amanda’s comment about specifying what kind of people you are talking about is a good idea. Maybe the effect on school-age children or on young adults would be worth looking into.
