Basics of MLA Style for Articles

While you may find EasyBib a useful tool for helping you do citations, you should also have a basic understanding of how to do citations, as tools like EasyBib will often make mistakes or won’t catch your mistakes as you enter information.

Journal Article in a Database (MODEL)

Last name, First name. “Article title.” Name of the journal (use italics) Volume number. Issue number (year of publication): first page number-last page number. Name of the database that had the full text of the article(use italics). Web. Date you accessed the full text of the article.

Journal Article in a Database (EXAMPLE)

Newspaper Article in a Database (MODEL)

Last name, First name. “Article title.” Name of the newspaper (use italics) Date of publication (note that it goes day Month year): page number. Name of the database that had the full text of the article(use italics). Web. Date you accessed the full text of the article.

Magazine Article in a Database (MODEL)

Last name, First name. “Article title.” Name of the magazine (use italics) Date of publication (note that it goes day Mon. year): page number. Name of the database that had the full text of the article(use italics). Web. Date you accessed the full text of the article.
