Google is no doubt one of the world’s leading corporations, but I feel like this question is too big to tackle without a large amount of work being put behind it. I would suggest that instead of looking Google as a whole, look at one of the services Google offers and see why it has become profitable and successful.
I feel like this question is very large-scale, and just like Nafyal had pointed out, will be hard to tackle. Maybe you can chose a certain service and or feature that Google has, which is superior to those of other corporations, and describe how it has contributed to Google’s overall success. I suggest that you do narrow your question down, so that it can address more specific components of Google, as opposed to just Google in its entirety. That can be quite endless to address, seeing as how Google is an ever-expanding enterprise, always coming up with new ideas/methods of search and advertising. It may therefore, be quite difficult for you to address everything that has contributed to Google’s success, as opposed to say one particular key feature.
I agree with the other comments, if you’re going to look into the company’s history itself while it climbed it’s way up your entire research paper will simply be crammed with a vague timeline of events as the topic is too huge to handle. Along with Google’s past you’d also need to compare it to other leading businesses to truly answer your question which adds to the problem.
David, your classmates are spot on with their comments. Your topic is indeed too vast to tackle for a research paper. Instead, you’ll want to narrow your focus dramatically. Maybe an interesting question might be related to some specific aspect of Google’s history. For example, it might be interesting to try to figure out why exactly Google declined to purchase Yahoo! when it had the chance once. Or maybe you might want to research what is the single most important reason that Google’s search engine came to dominate others; you wouldn’t be research all the reasons why Google became successful but would instead look into understanding which of those reasons is the most important. A question like that gets to a place where, if you were to actually write a paper, you would find yourself arguing and defending a position that you researched first as a question.
