Comments on the Sample Annotated Bibliographies
I’ve now finished grading all but two of the annotated bibliographies you did for the December 5 homework assignment and have some comments that you’ll want to take to heart as you work on your annotated bibliography for the final project.
MLA Style
- Make sure you follow the latest version of MLA style for your citations
- See the guide to MLA style from the online writing center at Purdue University, which is very good
- If you are copying automatically generated citation from a database or from a tool like EasyBib, double check that citation using the MLA style guide above (don’t put 100% in these automation tools)
- In your annotation, if you mention the name of a book, journal, magazine, or newspaper, you must set it in italics
Identifying Article Types
- For articles in your bibliography, you must specify correctly the type:
- peer-reviewed journal article
- non-peer-reviewed journal article
- magazine article
- newspaper article
- If you are stumped, you can ask me or any other librarian for help.
Spellcheck and Proofread Your Work
- There is no reason to do things like type “Google” as “google” (unless you are using the word as a verb)
- If you read your annotations aloud to yourself, you can easily spot wording that is awkward or grammatically incorrect

research question
How does Google’s algorithm exploit a person’s history of search queries, IP address, cookies, and any other information Google acquires through its algorithms, or any other means it uses such as spiders, when providing you with results for your new search, and how does this affect the quality of someones results?
