Cover Art
- Talk to the podcast group. Get a sense for what should be captured by the image, what sort of tone it should set (e.g., light, humorous, deep, dark), etc.
- Go to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other platforms to see podcasts and the examples they have for cover art.
- Hand-draw a “prototype” and share it with Prof. Libertz and your podcast (all episodes).
- Get feedback and create a final version.
- Share with Prof. Libertz
Episode and Podcast Descriptions
- Listen to all episodes and take notes on what the main idea/argument is for each episode.
- Also take notes on ANY references to other sources and make sure they are noted to create a full reference. Go to script writers to get these references (e.g., hyperlinks, PDFs).
- Look at examples of episode descriptions and podcast descriptions for episodes and entire podcasts. Examples can be found on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, etc.
- Write drafts and share with Prof. Libertz. I may give you the “OK” or I may give you feedback to keep working.
- Include a reference list at the end of the episode description for all references/sources used in each episode.
- Make sure to also write a draft of a short description of what the podcast is about.
Transcriptions
- Listen to each episode and pause to write down chunks that you hear.
- A good approximation of how long it takes to transcribe is that it takes about 5-7 minutes for each minute of recorded audio.
- Make sure you take note of who is speaking.
- Make sure you give a description of sounds.
- DO NOT rely purely on the script. Things are said differently often. You also need interviews transcribed. You also need to note who is speaking. The way things sound. And so on.
- Look at examples of podcast episode transcriptions. Nice White Parents has some really good ones. But any highly produced podcast will have good examples of transcriptions.
