ASSIGNMENTS

This semester, you will make a 10-minute presentation on one of the assigned texts. You will present on the day we discuss that text.

There will be a midterm exam on the texts we’ve read so far. The midterm is Wednesday, March 24th.

And you will create a map for the course and write a 3- to 4-page justification for it. You will share your map with the class on Monday, May 17th, and email me your justification by Friday, May 21st.

Most importantly, your participation matters. This class will become a biweekly community, where we meet and talk about ideas, questions, thoughts. Just do the reading and come ready to discuss it with me and your classmates.

Your final grade will reflect:

Class participation: 25%
Presentation: 25%
Midterm: 25%
Map: 25%

Below are the policies for this course:

Attendance
Attendance via Zoom is strongly encouraged. I highly value your presence and participation as part of a semester-long conversation. Missing more than 3 classes will negatively affect your grade; missing 5 or more classes will likely result in a final grade of F.

Technology
We will meet every Monday and Wednesday via Zoom. The class link is posted in the “Zoom” section of the website. (Make sure you click on the correct island for your section!)

This site contains PDFs of every text except Macbeth, which you will buy.

Plagiarism
Plagiarism (turning in someone else’s work as your own) will result in an F for the assignment and possibly the course. Do. Not. Do. It. It’s never worth it. If you are having a hard time with an assignment—on any level—let me know.
