This semester, you will make one 10-minute presentation at the beginning of one of our classes. You’ll sign up for a presentation date at the beginning of the semester. On that date, you’ll present about that day’s reading.
Your presentation should make a connection between the reading and a contemporary idea/problem/question/condition. What relationship(s) can you find between this (old!) text and our current world? Your presentation will lead to a larger conversation, and it can help to pose some questions for everyone to think about.
Keep in mind: you can assume we’ve all read the text, so your job is not to summarize the reading. Think of it not as a book report but as a portion of the class you’re leading. This is really about your ideas and the connection you’re making to the present. And if we’re spending multiple classes on the text, make sure to only cover that day’s reading. No spoilers!
You can use PowerPoint or any other visual platform for your presentation. You’ll be able to share your screen with the class. Feel free to bring in any other material (like a video clip, article, Tweet, etc.) that you feel is interesting or relevant.
Please email me your presentation before class on the day you present.
