Problem Overview: Healthcare software vendors whose Electronic Health Record (EHR) products are certified by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), often lack extensive usability testing. This lack of testing is primarily the reason as to why doctors often attribute EHRs as being difficult to use.
Approach to Solution: The Watson OnRecord software seeks to implement an intuitive approach for obtaining patient data by making use of a health professional’s voice recording. This approach would lessen time for tedious data entry and would use that data to populate an EHR chart to identify potential diagnoses concerning the patient. Our team hopes to do away with the current unintuitive software user-interfaces present in many EHRs, thereby decreasing time wasted on incorrect clicks on drop-down menus and increasing time for doctors to see their patients. Furthermore, we hope with the usage of our software is to minimize patient misdiagnosis, minimize incorrect patient medication, and facilitate the patient data entry process.
