Problem – Academic Advisors build close relationships with students and provide personalized advice as they grow in their college experience. But too much of advisor’s time is spent on scheduling. It creates long wait times for students with both scheduling and guidance questions. By finding a way to remove the responsibilities of scheduling from academic counselors their time can be used more appropriately to aid and assist students developmentally.
Approach to address the problem –This application ‘Comrade’ brings scheduling to the hands of the student. A live chat bot providing service 24/7 allows students to both execute and infer about prospective classes. Comrade would have access to all of the students’ academic records allowing it to track graduation requirements seamlessly. This will move the task of scheduling from the Academic Advisors to Comrade, allowing more time for the advisors to focus on one to one relationships with students.
Benefits and Impacts – Students will avoid unwarranted waiting times for scheduling and worksheet appointments. Counselors will be able to serve students as mentors.
