“Instead of identical copies, a new media object typically gives rise to many different versions” (P.36)

This line really stood out to me the most because while I agree with most of what he says, I disagree with a couple of points. While new media gives artist the opportunity to manipulate and create multiple versions of art and unlimited possibilities for creativity. It doesn’t always substitute for “Old fashioned” art. Some natural movements and shapes can’t be realistically created accurately. Also there is something special about physical art that can’t be overtaken by New Media Arts. That’s why even though digital photography and painting are dominating the industry, more and more artists are going back to film photography and physical art. There is no denial of the power of New Media Arts, but I feel like as much if frees the artists’ creativity in limits their joy of experimenting and creating original pieces of arts that are unique and can’t be recreated.
