This semester we will read masterpieces spanning three millennia and four continents. As a way of linking such a diverse collection of traditions and languages, we will consider throughout the semester the ways in which foundational myths interact with narratives of desire, what traits constitute epics, and how notions of the warrior do and do not carry across cultures and ages.
