RADIO PERSONALITY TO OFFER WORKSHOPS

DEAL, NEW JERSEY-October 5, 2010:  “Jersey” Judi Franco, Veteran Radio Personality, Formerly of New Jersey 101.5 FM radio and currently of 770 AM WABC Radio, is offering a 6-week workshop teaching valuable verbal skills for today’s job market. The workshop is open to those seeking employment, changing careers, or who need to have an edge on the competition in their current career by communicating effectively. It is also geared toward college students, who want to improve their speaking ability for career preparedness or for life in general.

Franco, who has been teaching and coaching for over 20 years, believes that the current economic climate necessitated this type of targeted learning. “I always loved teaching, but being involved in talk-radio for so many years made me acutely aware of how important it is to express yourself well. On the radio, we made assumptions about people according to how well—or how poorly–they spoke..like it or not, that’s the way people operate.”, Says Franco. Young people are especially lacking in communication skills, she says, because of texting, emailing, etc. “Whether you’re preparing for an important interview, or just trying to keep your skills sharp, you can’t underestimate the value of your verbal skills. In a competitive environment,” she continues, “the way you speak can either make you or break you.”

Classes for adults of all ages, as well as high school and college students, begin in early February in Deal, NJ and cover everything from “How to sound smarter than you are” to “The best and worst things you can say in an interview”
