After reading McLuhan’s reading, I begin to understand what is “extends”under McLuhan’s explanation. It is the use of technology in a new way in an attempt to reach body or mind, by using any object, place, to be seen as an extension of either mind, body, or both. Personally, I think that this way of  thinking as an extension is quite new to me, but actually it is very appropriate, and very acceptable. For instance, a car can be seen as an extension of feet, library can be seen as an extension of mind while books can be seen as an extension of eyes.

Here is another example, a fuel tank, which store fuel for further use, it can be seen as the stomach of our body, since our stomach store foods we ate for further use in order to keep us warm and alive.

I can think of another example, an engine, can be seen as the extension of legs and arms, since engine works as a motor, which help us go far. Same as our arms and legs, we walk to destinations.
