“This island is a bird, each country is a wing, and without a wing a bird can not fly”

dominican border

The United States of America is not the only country facing racism and discrimination against blacks. Haitians are facing these issues in the Dominican Republic. Due to new immigration policies, such as law 168-13 and the naturalization law 169-14, in the Dominican Republic, if a individual does not have a form of citizenship, they would be deported to Haiti. Many Haitians believe that the Dominican government is not being just because people that have Haitian blood but were born in D.R. are also being deported. Haitians feel that Dominicans are being racist towards them because they are black or of darker skin than them.
