Having the Right Tools for Your Education

This section will inform you of items that will help you succeed in school. I will help you both understand the importance of integrating these items into your educational arsenal but also will do my best to find deals for these items.

What I hope to do is have companies be aware of the growing concern in our communities and donate items that you need the most. This may take time and also may require some effort from the public by way of crowd funding. I will keep you posted on the development of this exciting feature page so please check in often and do sign up for the newsletter to stay up to date.

Be well friends.

Underachievement In the Hispanic Community is Unacceptable

As a first post in this news section I would like to point out the very real situation that has become of the Hispanic community. Young Hispanics are dropping out of high schools all over the country at higher rates than any other race. In this section I turn to empirical data that shows where the Hispanic community has been and where it is today. Together we can make strides to making our communities unite and become a more productive and collaborative part of society.

I read an article that was written this past March about Hispanic families in Dallas Texas that were losing hope of a better life because of low literacy rates. This problem was counteracted not by punishing the children but by an unorthodox means. A non-for profit company, called The Concilio, reached out to local schools to train the parents in methods of dealing with their adolescents and teaching them about the American school system.

Stories like this and many others that will help us thrive in our own families, communities and other relationships will be posted in this section. Stay tuned and please visit and post often.

Getting Your Parents Involved in Your Learning

This first post in the resource section will try and connect with you personally. I hope it does and that you can share your story on the reply section of this page. Let this be an outlet that helps us understand each other in a collaborative way. My story may be similar to yours and I know that we can improve our Hispanic communities if we develop in unison. Change starts within your family’s wants to learn more about greater outlets of growth, which will be provided for you on my blog.

My parents emigrated from Colombia at the young age of 20 (mother) and 22 (father). They had my brother in 1983 and soon after had me (Miguelito) in 1985. My brother and I first learned to speak Spanish and it wasn’t until after we entered pre-kindergarten that we really began to learn the English language. Of course we knew some words from watching television in English and also from our family’s efforts, but we sure had to struggle while learning a whole new language in pre-kindergarten. Like many of you, my brother had to attend English as a Second Language (ESL) for extra help on his English language development.

For reasons being discovered, parents may lose sight over the responsibilities given to their children in early development by their schoolteachers. I aim to be a resource where I, along with my affiliated partners, can teach you to interact with your parents so that they can learn the English language along with you. Your parents have sacrificed a whole lot, leaving their families and friends behind, to give you a golden opportunity that may not have been available back in their homelands. I want to guide you and becoming a mentor and friend for you and your family will be an added feature.

Welcome to my Blog

I’m an enthusiast in the area of language and lover of learning. My goal is to reach Hispanic students studying the English language and instill in them the importance of continuing their education. My passion is helping others discover new ways of learning while helping them reach their life goals. Bilingualism opens up many doors in this global market. Miguelito targets the Hispanic community because of the dire need for change, but the door is always open for all parties to enter so that you can make and take contributions. The more the merrier!

I am interested in how people experience learning languages via software like Rosetta Stone and also face to face interactions. This blog site will provide you with up to date news, helpful mentoring and connections to language learning resources that best suits your needs. So lets have some fun while fully embracing the power of language and the joy of being a part of a meaningful community. I am determined to help increase your enthusiasm in learning the English language and making positive changes in your lives.
