Good News for the Hispanic Population.

Screen Shot 2013-12-09 at 8.41.11 AM

Pew Research Institute has done a study in 2012 that shows that the drop put rate for Latino students is at the lowest level it has ever been. More Hispanics are finishing their high school educations and also noticing the necessity of continuing onto college. Although this is a major achievement for our communities there is still a lag in the amount of graduates from four-year institutions. For more information on this please read the report done by the Pew Research Institute.

We Are Working On Sponsorships

In order to get you the best pricing for school related materials, Miguelito is working on getting companies like Staples, Target and Walmart to sponsor our website. This will hopefully lead to deep discounts on items that will help you become better students. I will do my best to have them donate some items and these will be distributed at a per needs basis.

The blog is at its very early stages but it will evolve as soon as time permits and you will see the changes. I am planning on making a part of this blog dedicated to helping you find what you need via the Internet. This will be like a online shop where you and your family will find descriptions of items and why they will be good for you to have. There will also be links to helpful companies such as Kumon Learning Centers and Rosetta Stone so that mom and dad can take advantage of discounts so that they may learn the English language and help you in your studies more.

Please comment on this page if there is anything that you are missing that is hindering your studies.

International Youth Fellowship

Hello everyone interested in making a difference. There is wonderful program starting this December called the International Youth Fellowship. It is a Christian English camp that will help the young people of Monterrey Mexico learn how English could be fun to learn. There will be a mandatory workshop that takes place in Dallas Texas from December 29th to January 1st followed by the camp in Mexico from January 2nd to January 5th. I will be attending this awesome camp and would like to see how many of my bloggers would like to go too. If you want more information on this you can check out the IYF website at IYFUSA.org. There is also a contact number for them and it is 1.888.634.8436. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have but this is a great resource and learning experience. A Korean pastor named Ock Soo Park 50 years ago started the fellowship. His ministry aims to help children and adults in countries that are underserved and he does this by seeking out volunteers. I have been a part of volunteer organizations for the past three years and I have to tell you that it is a powerful experience.

Please consider joining the IYF English camp this year. There are costs associated with this trip and time is running out. If we get enough people interested in going, we will find a way to pay for this trip of a lifetime. I remember not being able to go on trips when I was a kid and if had I had the chance to raise money with others like me, I would have taken it. Here is your chance.
