Underachievement In the Hispanic Community is Unacceptable

As a first post in this news section I would like to point out the very real situation that has become of the Hispanic community. Young Hispanics are dropping out of high schools all over the country at higher rates than any other race. In this section I turn to empirical data that shows where the Hispanic community has been and where it is today. Together we can make strides to making our communities unite and become a more productive and collaborative part of society.

I read an article that was written this past March about Hispanic families in Dallas Texas that were losing hope of a better life because of low literacy rates. This problem was counteracted not by punishing the children but by an unorthodox means. A non-for profit company, called The Concilio, reached out to local schools to train the parents in methods of dealing with their adolescents and teaching them about the American school system.

Stories like this and many others that will help us thrive in our own families, communities and other relationships will be posted in this section. Stay tuned and please visit and post often.
