I picked the passage on “Your education” due to the interesting things I understood afterward. I believe that the passage brings up a lot of topics that can relate to modern society and in addition, it also brings up the facts of how technology has affected the beliefs of children when they are young. In the passage, it says how the “television child” is attuned to up-to-minute “adult news” such as inflation, war, rioting, and taxes which definitely made me wonder and think about how I was raised up while simple cartoons that have propaganda about wars and also many stuff that can be related to an adult by having the cartoons teach me about taxes and inflation in many of the episodes that I watched. This made me feel very compelled towards this passage as how I was able to just simply relate even though kids right now in modern times have adult subjects introduced to them way easier and how that it was used all the time and could have even started at the time when television was invented. There was also a part in the passage that made me outraged by how the author decided to phrase it, “The child was an invention of the seventeenth century; he did not exist in say Shakespheare ’s day He had up until that time have been merged with the adult world and there was nothing left that would be called childhood in our sense”. This by far means very true but the sense of reality hitting made me outraged as how many kids these days are introduced to topics that have nothing to do with their age and how each of them is brought up with topics that have no relation with them and also influence them to think differently. I believe kids should live with the sense of knowing themselves and actually enjoy their childhood so when I saw this, it made me feel very angry as I knew that it was true regardless of time, it could be back then and it is very so now too.
