A short answer: Jobs!
A longer answer: Marketing Analytics is the fastest growing job area in the industry – and this course is the first, and easy, step you can take towards gaining expertise in this area. Consider the following reports:
- Forbes reported in 2013 that the jobs in marketing-related analytics are steading increasing: they have increased by 67% over the last year, and 136% over the past three years.
- A McKinsey reportestimates that by 2018, the U.S. could face a shortage of 140,000 to 190,000 data scientists and 1.5 million managers and analysts who understand how to use big data to make decisions
- Financial Times reported that the US is expected to create 44 per cent of the new jobs for analytics experts but only 23 per cent of the supply
But don’t stop just at this course. You can major or minor in marketing analytics. While MKT 4561 is a core course requirement for both – a major or a minor in marketing analytics – make sure you check out all the electives available in STAT/CIS and Marketing.
