Multimedia Reporting Spring 2021

Video Project Pitch

I would like to do a video piece about the Metropolitan Museum of Art, focused on what the experience is like now since it has reopened during a pandemic. I will interview museum-goers and hopefully a staff member. I’m confident in the logistics of the piece and know there will be so much opportunity for good b-roll. Originally, I wanted to focus on art museums in New York City altogether, visiting also the Brooklyn Museum and the MoMa, but since the project is shorter than I expected I think I should just focus on the Met. I think it will have the richest and most diverse visuals of any one museum and feature a lot of different types of people.

Video Pitch Ideas

  1. My 20-year-old neighbor is a lash tech. She just opened up her own lash business and I just wanted how it was going and how she’s able to do lashes during a pandemic. The risk of being up close in someone’s face while doing their lashes is her business thriving, etc. She also just gave birth a couple of months ago so I just wanted to see how she balancing motherhood and her new business.
  2. I can also vlog my friend since she’s a hairdresser. I can do a day in a life as a hairdresser during a pandemic and how the salons have changed to fit pandemic measures.
  3. I know some Pharmacy tech from CVS that have been giving out vaccines. So I can base the story on how it’s like working at a vaccine center, how they feel about the vaccine, if they have gotten the vaccine, the effects, and how much traffic the vaccine center gets, the type of vaccines they give out, etc.

Video Pitch

I was thinking I could continue my photo essay and show a day in the life of my father a month after he moved to Florida and how he’s adjusting to his new job and lifestyle as well as a more personal view on his daily routine and thoughts.

Video Pitch

  1. My mom is getting her second vaccine dose tomorrow. The story could be about her reaction, her thoughts on people getting vaccines/the availability of vaccines, and what she is doing daily now that she has the vaccine.

Pitch

I wanted to showcase my friend who is transitioning out of the army and how he is dealing with his return to civilian life.

Video Pitch Ideas

  1. Continuing on my story from my radio pitch into a video format. I still had a lot more stories I wanted to explore and continue on, especially with my friend and overall, student mental health, and racism.
  2. The Student Government Elections of Baruch College. Student Elections for the Undergraduate Student Government are happening again and I wanted to interview the running Executive Board for the year 2021-2022 and how they formed their team, the process, the stress, the passion, etc.

Video Story Pitch

  1. Ramadan started yesterday, it is also the second year the muslim community celebrates Ramadan during a pandemic for the second time. I was thinking of interviewing my friend on how her and her family have prepared for the holiday and is it different then last year. As well as how different is it from now and before COVID.

2. Retail store in malls will be extending their hours starting May 1st, I could interview a store manager of Aeropostale to learn more about the operations that goes on to help protect their employees and their customers during this pandemic.

Video Story Pitch

  1. My mom volunteers at our community church. She is the coordinator of many religious groups in our church. The video story would be about how her “job” makes her happy, and how it is do deal with all that she has to do, like her daily routine.
  2. One of my friends got a new job, and she is learning how to balance school and work, which for many is easy but for many is hard, including her. The story would feature what she does to keep this balance and if the balance does get shifted what does she do to fix it. As well include details about her job and what she does.

Video Project Pitch

1) I’m going on a road trip across the country to Utah with my friends (currently in the car on the way right now). I can do a vlog style video throughout our trip and I can ask my friends questions about what we’ve done in the day. Kind of like a day in the life type of video but all pertaining to this trip.

2) I can interview my aunt who lived in the Jackson Heights apartments that burned down and had to displace and live with my family for a while. I can interview her about the event itself and how she has coped/is coping with it.

Video Project Pitches

1). A pre-med college student’s day transitioning back into in-person class. She currently has her lab class in person and the story would gain insight on the return to a new normal in the college environment.

2). How my best friend managed a small online business with her sister throughout the pandemic to raise donations for the Armenian war crisis in late 2020. She still runs the online business today selling some cosmetics and household items.
