As the candidates used their campaign sites to to connect with possible voters, the words used on their sites became incredibly important.
John Kerry Campaign site:

Aside from the obviously popular words being the name of Kerry and Edwards, other popular words were data, financial”, “senate”, and “more.”
George W. Bush campaign site:

Interestingly, a popular word for George W. Bush was “President,” a reminder that Bush was, in fact, our president at the time of the campaign and that the White House does not go on autopilot when the Commander-in-Chief is running for re-election.
By data mining both Bush and Kerry’s campaign sites, it is easy to see how Terrorism, Iraq War, and Job growth were hot topics with words like “security,” “jobs,” “women,” and “more,” being incredibly popular words.
Also, the use of the words “your,” “blog,” “fundraiser,” and “vote,” really shows what the campaign sites were used to do – provide information on the candidates via blog, gather donations, and motivate Americans to get out and vote.
