This section was very enlightening. I had no idea how wikipedia started up and how it really began. I actually didn’t even know how wikipedia really worked. I just usually look at wikipedia for information. So its really ironic how I use this source without really even knowing where the information is coming from. Wikipedia has been able to work as an open unmanaged community. There is no passing orders or directing it really. Then what came to me was what about vandalism? I been knew though that anyone can edit wikipedia. One of my family members actually inserted his name in a wiki article as a joke. It actually stayed there for a while. So I did always wonder how does wikipedia correct this. I was pleased to find that the actually users correct these mistakes or like the article says acts of vandalism on the page. I wonder if wikipedia is this open in other countries though like China? I found it interesting as well that this Wikipedia project wouldn’t work for other projects like when Los Angelos Times
I also started using wikipedia not wondering where the information was coming from, until one day I was researching a topic and when I went on Wikipedia it had contradicted the information I had found before looking it up on Wikipedia. Thankfully I didn’t you use that information and went to my professor for the truth, though it did make me think how much of the information on this site is legitimate?
