I’m sure that many of the people reading this are aware of the Government Shutdown that is currently taking place. It is unknown how long it will continue to last, but both sides don’t want to back down. This is proving to be disastrous for many people in dozens of different occupations. The New York Times published an article about this very recently and that is how we found out about this particular situation. Taking a quote from Dr. Levy that the NY Times included in their article, “It’s like a biography of the earth with a couple of pages in the middle torn out,” “Nature will have taken its course, and we will have not been there to see it.” We can all deeply sympathize with his plight since I’m sure that many of us have experienced a time where we lost our work. Perhaps you computer went dead while you were working on your Term Paper and forgot to save, or you lost your internet connection as you were submitting your test and it went into limbo. Imagine that feeling, but instead of losing work that took you a few weeks or a month, but magnified to a whole year. The article goes into depth about the situation and how badly this will affect the research that he and his team were doing. We need more people to speak out against the Shutdown and get them to reach some sort of agreement. The situation will continue to grow worse as the Shutdown continues.
