The Real New York

I came across these videos and decided to share them with you all. The first two videos contradict the many positive depictions of our city, and are hilarious. The last one is an instructional video on how to blend into the city. Enjoy!

The last video is probably the one that is most truthful about the city. I really don’t think we’re as rude as people make us out to be, though. However, one thing is for sure, this city is riddled with crazy people, so maybe the “rude” New Yorkers are just actually psychos. Also, I find myself resembling a tourist more and more because I’m actually trying to take time to appreciate the scenery in the city and stop to take pictures with my phone. Thankfully, I still walk like I’m trying to get to the Emergency Room, so I don’t think I look too touristy. Lastly, I wonder if that Halal cart on 53rd and 6th has won any Vendy awards, because they are insanely delicious. Going there to eat at 2 a.m. is a pleasure anytime.

When people say New Yorkers are rude, I would rather say that non-New Yorkers simply just act nicer or that we’re only acting rude on occasion and we’re not rude at all times. It’s also not hard to believe why we act rude sometimes since it’s one of the most expensive cities in the country, rent is too damn high, the MTA stinks, and there’s just too many people with too little space.

I was staying at a hotel in Albany once and some of my friends left their empty breakfast plates on the table and went back to their rooms. I was still eating breakfast with a few other friends when this middle aged man comes up to us and asks us where we’re from. He then condescendingly asked us if all New Yorkers leave their empty plates on tables and don’t clean up after themselves. That was by far the rudest thing I have experienced outside of the city. I suppose that in an effort to maintain normalcy in his own little world, he came off as rude. Perhaps being rude can be attributed to being normal depending on where you’re from.

Haha! I AGREE that I don’t think we are rude as many people say we are. And, there ARE plenty of psychos here, so watch out!

.The first two video clips are hilarious but not true at all. I don’t think new yorkers are rude. they just walk and talk fast. It’s the norm in nyc.
