Produce a single photographic self-portrait. This may be a composite of multiple images put together into one or a single image that you have manipulated and altered in Photoshop. The effects used should have some meaningful connection to the image and the “sense” you want to invoke NOT just effects for the sake of effects.
You may also have someone else take the photo that you set up and pose in. Remember, you will not get the best shot on your first try. Part of being an artist is choosing the right image for the right feeling.
At least one image needs to have been taken this week or next week.
around size: 1920 x 1080 (landscape) or 1080×1920 (portrait)

TRADITIONAL 40′S PINUP PHOTOS WITH MODELS WEARING HIGH SPEED MILK
Frozen with high speed strobes, each image is layered from hundreds of photographs capturing splashes on real models using real milk. Inspired by iconic images from artists like Gil Elvgren, Wieczorkiewicz shoots up to 200 frames to complete an image. The frames are then layered in Photoshop and combined seamlessly to complete the dress.

Manovich, “Principles of New Media” Note – this PDF is the entire book. Please read only the first section of Chapter One, “What is New Media?” on the Principles of New Media, pages 18-61. Make sure you are looking at the page numbers of the book, not the pages of the PDF file! Consult the Table of Contents if you are confused.
Quote and respond to one phrase or passage in the reading that stands out to you, explaining one of Manovich’s five principles.

Thinking like an artist make a list of 15 things.
That’s all you get.
Think about your list, what is this a list of, what is a list? Write it in a notebook, on the back of a napkin, or on paper… then post your list on your blog.
Good luck!
(This list has nothing to do with our first reading, it is a thinking exercise)

Post your reading response as a comment on your blog!
Pick a passage from the reading that stands out to you, something that is compelling or confusing, something that causes you inspiration or outrage. Perform a close reading of that passage and explain what it means to you and why it interests you.
