RIP: A Remix Manifesto

The beginning of the film, with the remix is interesting because it was very chaotic but somehow matched and flowed. Before watching this film, I did not think that there were that many copyright issues when listening to music. I did not imagine that there were that many copyright lawsuits when other want to make music. I never knew that even the happy birthday song had copyright issues related to it. I feel like this makes it too hard for more people to make music without having to be very careful about copyright. Music is all about beats and sounds mixed together and if everyone thinks that someone else is copying them, then making music will be too complicated. I agree with the phrase it does depend on how you see this “copying”. If it is just remixing a beat, I think people should be allowed to use it. I also think if music is already published, it should be open for everyone to use. If music only becomes related to copyright issues, it will only become about money and not music for other to enjoy. I would agree more with the copy lefts — to allow more information, ideas, and music to be spread around without having so many lawsuits of using other people’s ideas. I do understand that companies use this as a means of getting more money, but I think copyrighting to a degree is a law that must be written within the industry. For example, if someone uses another person’s for more than a minute, then they should be charged. Allowing more ideas to be passed around it what music should be doing.
