All of the animations were very intriguing to see. It’s really cool to see how just like technology, animation has evolved as well.
One of the animations I didn’t like is called “Op Hop – Hop Op” – 1966 by Pierre Hébert. For me it was too disturbing to watch, and the visuals were too hard for me to follow. The flashing of the pictures just didn’t sit right with me. I did find it interesting how the rhythm of the sound was at a different pace than the images. It gave me the feeling of how sometimes everyone is moving ahead of you and you feel like you’re at a slower pace/ falling behind.
One of the animations that have stuck with me was Logorama. The animation style was very nice. One of the cutest detailed that I loved was the yellow walking figures. The logos everywhere remind me of how a lot of people nowadays walk around luxury brands. The two men talking in the beginning the one with the x made me feel like those memes that go “the woke friend” that’s what this man reminded me of. Their conversation reminded me of a conversation people usually have on a daily base, this was a very interesting detail that tied the animation with real life. My personal thought was that I would watch seasons of this animation, it was so funny, and intriguing it had my full attention. It was also really clever to use logos in that way especially the way they used logos to make it look like the planets I found that really intriguing.
One of the animations that I really liked was the MeToon animation because of the message it portrayed which was displaying that animation isn’t only for entertainment purposes but it can be used to create a movement as well. I admire how in this animation they’re talking about something very important but with the use of animation they grab the audiences attention as well. It was informational and engaging to watch this video. I really like animations of this type.
Lastly, this animation made me laugh but I also feel on the fence about it. The Spirit of Christmas, South Park 1995 animation. One of the moments that made me laugh was one of the character telling Jesus “your birthday is on Christmas that’s sick”, my birthday is also on Christmas so it made me laugh. I did like the episode it reminded me of how girls when they were little used to make up scenarios with dolls, it made me feel like this episode was like that. But I do dislike how they included all religion excluding Islam, it felt like it was done on purpose.
Overall, it’s very intriguing to see how so many artists are just living among us and we have the luxury of finding their artwork old or new at our fingertips.
