Dear Rosa Reyes,

I’m writing in response to your advertisement for an office manager. I have over twenty years’ experience as a senior executive assistant, and although I do not have the associate degree you’re looking for, I have strong technical skills and proficiency in word processing, databases, and spreadsheets. In addition, I have successfully provided support services to a twelve-member sales team, as well as managing all office purchasing for my current employer.

I’d like the opportunity to tell you more about my work experience and how my skill set could contribute to the successful day-to-day running of your company. I’d be happy to supply strong references at your request.

I look forward to discussing the position with you.

Sincerely,

 Pedro Reyes

My strengths are that I’m a goal oriented person that knows what he wants and looks for a way to get it. I’m a time manager; however, I try to manage time like money and unlike money I can’t be at two places at the same time. Some of my weaknesses are that I’m not organized; thus I often misplace things.

My academic strengths are in math and science and I truly enjoy them as well. This led me to think of fields that will put to use these skills, I started with science. When I thought science I thought of the medical field specializing in cardiology. The reason I thought this is because my mom has heart related problems and I enjoy to read the work they do. However, I myself wouldn’t like to do them so I went to the math side to see what I could become. I could of became a math professor; however, I don’t enjoy math that well so I thought of what else I liked a lot and this was money. This led me to incorporate business with mathematics and ended in accounting.

In order to be an accountant I have to have a four year degree in college. I also want to be a CPA this will requirement the degree, 100 hours of work under a CPA and to pass the CPA exam. I hope I become an accountant and I’m doing everything to become one.

Personal Statement

pedro9 on Apr 6th 2010

Growing is always a challenging thing, some have to do it sooner than others, but at the end you decide who you are. Growing up in single parent household with two sisters and no male role model to look up to was a tough thing for me. I had no one to teach me simple father and son things like how to throw a ball. From this I got determination that if no one was going to teach me this skill I was going to learn it by myself. I went to the park everyday I could to learn how to pitch and I was getting good at it. Until one day I was going home and saw my mom crying in her room.

She was talking to my aunt that she didn’t have enough money to pay the rent and feed us plus buy us clothes. From this day I learned that I had to do something to help her so, at the age of ten,  I got a little job in a grocery store helping out and got only got paid 50 dollars a week but these 50 dollars helped me, help my mom in her daily struggle. From this point on I have worked from job to job trying to help my mom as much as I can. It was a hard choice leaving your friends and childhood behind but I decided that my mom needed me to grow up an fast.

I am grateful to have had the childhood that I had and to come up in a single parent home. This taught me to be tough and to be determined to be someone better than I was suppose to be.
