My personal and all of our roles in the Baruch community and the larger community outside of Baruch is a big one. It is all of our duty to help others around our neighborhood and our country. One of the best possible ways to do this is to volunteer. Volunteering is a great way to help a multitude of people, as well as make you feel good about yourself for actually helping these people when you really did not have to. I feel that we have to be a big part of the Baruch community and the outside community as a Scholar. I think that it is a great idea to have the honors service requirement and I feel that it teaches all of us honors students to be better people in general, and help people just for the good, not for any personal gain. I have been volunteering at my local church and a multitude of other places for about eight full years now on a weekly basis. It gives me a lot of happiness to know that I am helping people and bettering my community. I think that it is a great idea that we have this honors service requirement and I am happy to be taking part in it. I believe that myself, as well as all of my peers will greatly benefit from the experiences that we have while volunteering. These experiences will help us to become better professionals in the future and better people overall.

There are a multitude of things that have helped to shape me as a person in life. I am a practicing catholic who attends church every sunday and volunteers my time there regularly. I was a Boy Scout from 1st grade to age 18. I am a huge Jets fan and football is my favorite sport. I have many things that I do in my home and my town that keep me very community oriented. But that is what I already am and where I have already been. Now it is time to talk about where I am going. My expectations as a college student are that here I will become prepared for the real world and learn how to be my own, independent person. I also expect that I will be given a multitude of resources as well as the knowledge and training to learn many things, especially things in the field of finance. I also expect to have the ability to leave college and go into the workforce with a good job, or to go on to receive higher education, such as an MBA. My hopes for the first semester are to get high grades in all my classes, and set myself up to have a good G.P.A. throughout my college career. I also hope to have fun and make lots of friends, as well as join a few clubs and learn more about things that interest me. I am very excited to start my college journey and I hope that it lives up to all of my hopes and expectations!
