Journal Three

My participation in the community service project helped to show me many different things about Baruch and how useful all of the resources here can be. This project has encouraged me to draw upon many of these different resources in many ways. One of these ways was by using the library’s website. On the library website we used the databases to search up information about our organization. I have personally used the writing center as well as contacted a research librarian for help with my research paper for English. They were both extremely helpful as the writing center helped me to develop my paper and make it better. The research librarian, Mrs. Pena, was with directing me to good databases for my topic, and helped me to understand what the pros and cons of different databases are. I have joined a few different clubs here at Baruch, but have not become very involved in any of them as of yet. I hope to make that a priority in my second semester of college. It will be a lot of fun to get involved in different activities and hopefully get a leadership position in one soon. The use of these resources for my project has helped me to garner an edge in other courses and my future success at Baruch by letting me know where I can go when I need help with my classes or making my next schedule. I have new connections that can help me to be successful in my four years here at Baruch. My understanding of community service has evolved from this project as I now have a deeper understanding of how what I will be doing will actually help people. This project has been a great experience for me, as will the actual service that gets done.

  1. I agree. The community service project also helped to show me how important the resources at Baruch are. I too have used the library databases and have contacted a librarian to help me with my own research paper.
