Journal One

There are a multitude of things that have helped to shape me as a person in life. I am a practicing catholic who attends church every sunday and volunteers my time there regularly. I was a Boy Scout from 1st grade to age 18. I am a huge Jets fan and football is my favorite sport. I have many things that I do in my home and my town that keep me very community oriented. But that is what I already am and where I have already been. Now it is time to talk about where I am going. My expectations as a college student are that here I will become prepared for the real world and learn how to be my own, independent person. I also expect that I will be given a multitude of resources as well as the knowledge and training to learn many things, especially things in the field of finance. I also expect to have the ability to leave college and go into the workforce with a good job, or to go on to receive higher education, such as an MBA. My hopes for the first semester are to get high grades in all my classes, and set myself up to have a good G.P.A. throughout my college career. I also hope to have fun and make lots of friends, as well as join a few clubs and learn more about things that interest me. I am very excited to start my college journey and I hope that it lives up to all of my hopes and expectations!

  1. Becoming independent is among my top priorities for college as well. College enables us to decide what is important to us by giving us the freedom to choose what we invest our time in. This could be joining a club, studying, or just hanging out with friends and I completely agree that this was something I expected from college.

  2. I really resonate with how committed you are to your grades and academics, and I definitely share the same hopes for maintaining a high GPA and securing a good job. While I also intend to continue my education much further, I do not yet know what field of work I’ll pursue.

Your dedication to the community and your religion is also impressive— I tend to jump around between different hobbies and interests and have trouble committing to just a few things. I’ve only really had a strong passion for two communities in my life (my high school swim team and the arts), so I hope to find a club or organization that I can really stick to in the next few years.
