About a week ago a mini- hurricane hit my area. I live in middle village right near queens center mall and this area was torn up by the “ghost” hurricane. It’s one no one ever saw coming. No meteoroligist predicted it. I have not even heard of winds hitting my area until I saw the destruction first hand. I came out the train station at 9 pm and I walk a couple of blocks to my house and once I turn the block all the trees are down. The winds hit my neighborhood so hard the cement came off the ground about 10 feet. Two cars in front of my house were destroyed by these monstrous tree’s. Power lines were cut throughout by tree’s and firefighters were out all night long. Woodhaven blvd near the cemetaries where I live was filled with tree’s. Car’s couldn’t pass by for 2 days. I heard sirens as I was sleeping and people outside asking questions about when this mess is going to be cleaned. As of now many people still don’t know about the “ghost” hurricane. When it hits your neighborhood you will say to yourself ” Is this for real”.

It was so awful! Woodhaven blvd was completely shut down. Buses just stopped in the middle of the road and let everyone off. Trains stopped working. All the trees at Juniper and the cemetery on Woodhaven were uprooted!

Flushing got hit pretty hard to, there were live wires everywhere. I even got to see an entire power cable light up in flames like a molten whip! Recovery in NYC was quick and smooth in my opinion.

I was working at Aldo when it hit. The doors started shaking so hard, I’m surprised the glass didn’t shatter. Also, the brick roof on my grandfather’s house caved in.

My neighbors from across the street had a lot of damage. The trees fell on their cars. Their garage is one of those outdoor ones, surrounded by a lot of trees. Their internet also got cut off too.

I was driving down Jewel Ave when it hit, everything was shaking with trees flying everywhere, i put the wipers on in the car and the second it wiped, the water just pouring right back. I didn’t even have a second to look at where im going. I did take a video of the last 30 seconds of the crazy hurricane while it was happening, and countless pictures of the mess.
