November 2010

As you know for my paper I’m writing about Kanye West and how he is an example of how certain types of media and society could affect an individual. I think I’m making a lot of progress with my paper so far. It’s really easy to find all the information about Kanye’s life, especially the vma incident with Taylor Swift. I’m more worried about the video aspect of this project. I haven’t really ever made videos or something like this so its new for me, but it should be simple enough. I’m still not sure what I want to do for this video. I’m thinking about possibly reenacting the incident. There are some other options too though. Besides this I think I’m fine so far and once I decide what my video will be on it should be easy to do.

As most of you know for my project I’m focusing on violence in video games and how it affect kids negatively.  I can’t wait to start shooting.  I already have a visual idea of how my video is going to go down.  I already have a cast of people to shoot in my movie.  I used final cut and Imovie my entire senior year in high school so editing it won’t be difficult.   My video is going to be pretty funny even though it focuses on a serious topic.  I’m going to act situations in how Grand Theft Auto could make a teenager kill.  My thesis will be pretty clear through out the video.

As everyone knows I am working in a group with Danielle Minch and Vicky Vien. For our digital essay we will be doing a still motion love story with Dreamers by The Terribles playing in the background. There will obviously be no words in this film, being that it is still motion. But we also didn’t want anyone speaking in this film because we want our message to be understood clearly by just the pictures. We might even go to the extent of buying one of these Barbie Basics doll. Stay tuned for a love story you’ll never forget!!

My group is doing a stop motion film. What that is, is a series of photographs that will be in slideshow form, moving so fast that it almost appears as a movie. We chose to do this because it will allow for the highest quality, since I have a Nikon D3000, and because it will impact the viewers differently than will every other group’s project. You have to be original right!? So far, we are going with a love story, as I posted about in my original proposal. This will allow many different perspectives to be seen at once; the perfection seeking boy and girl and the boy and girl who are comfortable in their own skin. I’m hoping our message is clear to everyone; that perfection seeking will end in disappointment.

My progress on finding relevant information on Lady Gaga’s effects on society was quick and easy. The only problem that I have is writing my essay. The pressure to write the perfect essay is high when I have all the information at my disposal and approved. I guess whats left is my video. I’m not afraid of it because I have already used Mac’s Final Cut Pro and luckily I have it on my Mac. Shooting scenes or whatever is needed for the digital essay might be the only problem considering my last project I was on my friend’s roof and got kicked out by the landlord. Being on private property is definitely a problem.

I’m gathering material for my topic, I already have my copy of Romeo and Juliet and I have some ideas I want to work on. In terms of the digital part, I’m thinking of reenacting scenes from Romeo and Juliet, but I’m unsure of whether to portray the scenes exactly, or to do them in a modern sense. Actually I’m kinda worried abut writing a 7-10 page analysis but once I get all my ideas down, I think I’ll be able to cover that much.

I’m really excited about the video part of the research. I’m not a pro at making videos, but I love trying new things involving technology. I think that this will be really fun. I don’t know how I’m going to do my video yet, we’re still trying to find a way that we [me anna brianna] can do the video part together. I would really prefer to do it with them.

I looked through my computer programs and I have windows maker =D now I just gotta figure out how to use it!

Hi all,

I am happy to say that I’ve secured us all seats at the lecture that we had mentioned going to (when Luke Waltzer came to class).  Please let me know if you are unable to attend. I’ve gotten us all reserved seats. Here is the information:
