~Proposal~ Ravi Kadia
In this paper I will discuss how alcoholic drinks negatively influence people’s decision making skills. This is a successful topic to cover because you see billboard, commercials, and advertisements on alcohol and even if you were at a party or bar you can see that there are people who are drunk and cause trouble for others. Maybe you might know a friend or family member who has regretted getting drunk and made a bad decision. I plan my thesis somewhere along the lines of: Drinking alcohol negatively affects your decision making skills thus putting the people around you in harm’s way. The three sources I plan on using are going to be videos, commercials, and billboards because there are so many of them around you and you might not even notice them anymore. Most of the time during football games they show lots of beer commercials saying beer makes the whole game better when in reality it might cause problems.
At first I would like to point out what is in alcohol and how much the human body can take, by giving out facts and maybe even putting the ingredients and discuss what they do. After that I would discuss what happens to the body when you drink too much alcohol and if you drink too much you can get killed. Then I would explain how alcohol is used to influence people using media. Finally I would statements/facts on why alcohol negatively affects your decision making skills.

I was reading “art of contact zone” (because i didn’t read it before) and i was thinking that New york city has tons of contact zones. Then i realized all of America is contact zones because its a huge melting pot of cultures and that a lot of cultures intermingle with each other and make a new culture. Its sort of like combining colors, each color is a culture and mixing them would make thousands of different colors. I found this picture on the internet (disregard the citizenship) and i realized that not ever culture has equal rights there is still racism around trying to prevent a culture from expressing itself . It sort of persuades me to look into other cultures and see what their like and since i go to New York City a lot its a lot easier for me.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close ~ Ravi Kadia ~ Blog #2
At this point Oskar starts his journey to find his fathers hint. By using this “key” he is trying to keep the memory of his father alive for a long time. I believe that this is very important to Oskar because of how much he cares about his father and how much he misses him. His father was everything to him and by keeping the memory alive its like keeping his father alive throughout this journey. I believe that the more people he visits the more mature he is getting sort of like where everyone is a stepping stone to his ladder of maturity. Although I do not believe in a realistic world that the mother would let her 9 year old child walk around New York City and not question him. I personally believe that the mother knows about whats happening and making sure he doesn’t find out.

Reading Response ~ Ravi Kadia
In the start this book was extremely confusing for me i literally felt like it was a bunch of puzzle pieces which i had to put together. It was just a bunch of stories that he listed from his fathers voice to his Sensei to the Limousine. Its one of those books where you don’t understand anything till you read the whole thing which makes it a nice book. The fact that hes a little kid confuses me because how can he be very “mature” at that age which makes you think something happened in his early childhood. The chapters also switch character which makes it even more confusing. I feel like I’m lost in a world of confusion where nothing makes sense.
I feel like the book should be some where on this list.
