All fears stem from loss of control, including technophobia. As we give technology more control over our lives, we get more and more fearful of how dependent we’ve become. That’s why there are more and more books and movies about technology that’s not doing what it’s supposed to…technology that’s out of control.
The main claims which will stem from my thesis are:
- We fear the things that we can’t control.
- Most people don’t understand how technology works, which is why they feel that they can’t control it.
- We’re able to see how afraid we’ve become of the technology based on the multitude of books and movies about what would happen if the power went out (some even go as far as to say that we’d become little more than a “zombie wasteland”.)
I hope these count as 3 different claims because they’re all pretty interconnected…
