NY State Senator Serrano’s office seeking qualified candidate for exciting and immersive internship opportunity.
The internship would be unpaid and/or for school credit and the individual would get a feel for all aspects of a government office. The intern would act as a key representative for our New York State Senate office, responding to constituent requests for assistance (in person, via phone, email and mail), Attending community meetings, helping to explore and draft new legislation and working in communications by helping us write and research statements and talking points.
Major Responsibilities
Serve as a representative at community events/meetings
Take calls/emails/letters/visits from constituents seeking assistance.
Serve as liaison to other government offices, community groups, and labor groups.
Meet with constituents in the district office and on location.
Stay on top of current news, major developments in the district.
Assist in exploring and drafting new legislation
Working with the Communications Director on talking points and statements
Requirements
Flexible Schedule
Individual must be willing to work the occasional night and/or weekend
