Two internship opportunities in the Spring of 2018

1.The New York State Assembly Internship.

The deadlines for New York State Assembly and Senate Undergraduate Internships in Albany are approaching. It’s November 1.

We eager to see as many Baruch students as possible benefit from these fulltime, residential experiences.  Numerous students have landed great jobs as a result of their Albany internships.  Others have enhanced their professional degree prospects or have come back to campus with new clarity about their future career paths.

The monetary award for next year’s Albany-based New York State Legislative Internship Programs—in the Assembly and Senate—has been increased significantly. The 2018 award will be $5,850, an increase of $825 over the previous amount. CUNY continues to provide a $2,000 supplemental award to its students (up to 25), bringing the 2018 total to $7,850!

(Please Note: Once on the Senate page, students will see two separate links at the top: one for the 2018 program description, and one for the 2018 application. Students will need to print the documents from both links. Unfortunately, the Senate does not accept online forms. The students will have to submit hard cover applications with their supporting materials.)

2. City University of New York Scholars Program

The City University of New York is proud to offer an exciting Spring internship opportunity in New York City for a select number of CUNY students. The Program will be coordinated by the Edward T. Rogowsky Internship Program in Government & Public Affairs and a Campus Faculty Coordinator at each of the City University’s colleges. The New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic & Asian Legislative Caucus City University of New York Scholars Program will provide highly qualified individuals the opportunity to learn by doing in the district offices (in NYC) of state legislators that comprise the membership on the Caucus. Once selected, participating students will learn first hand how New York State government serves the needs of diverse communities around the City of New York.

Applications and Deadlines: Applications are now available from your Campus Faculty Coordinator, or can be downloaded from www.etrinternship.org. Applications and all supporting materials must be submitted to your Campus Faculty Coordinator by November 22, 2017!

Eligibility: The Program is open to any student who has completed 30 credits by the beginning of the Spring 2018 term. Any major may apply, but students who wish to be considered should demonstrate an interest in state government and politics. Applicants must carry a 3.0 GPA, and must submit at least 2 confidential faculty recommendation forms along with their applications.

Award: Each student will receive a $2,000 award.
