The customer is a minimalist millenial who is constantly on the go. The customer is recently living on their own and is juggling many responsibilities. This person does not like to carry a lot of items of them and likes things that are simple and multifunctional. The problem they are experiencing is that they keep forgetting or losing their key. They dont like to carry bags because they find them too bulky and they dont use a keychain because they find them to be noisy, uncomfortable and space-takers. Neither of these “solutions” align with the customer’s lifestyle or needs.
He only needs to transport one key (his apartment key) and therefore does not need a whole keychain to do that. The priority of this customer is function and efficiency. They dont have time to look around for their key, it is difficult to obtain a spare key, and their personal and work schedule have been disrupted by this problem. Two things they never seem to forget is their wallet and phone.
My product is a multipurpose, flat wallet that contains a retractable key compartment. When not in use, the key remains out of sight and tucked in within the wallet – keeping the wallet looking neat. When needed, the customer can use a button on the side to push the key upwards.
The wallet has a sleek external design, no frill. Every component is meant to add function. Internally, the wallet is more complex and convertible.
The wallet contains other functions to help actualize his lifestyle including retractable card compartments, a foldable Swiss army utility kit (with a box cutter, nail file and bottle opener), a transparent front pocket for easy ID or vaccination card display, a flat pocket for cash (the customer is primarily a card user), and an elastic in the back for grip and loose receipts. The wallet also contains a small storage box that can fit a mint or pill (for allergies or headache) in case of emergencies.
These components will help the customer carry less loose items in his pocket and be more organized. This product will also eliminate the problem of the customer losing his key since it will remain in his wallet.
