Assignment 3 – The Ready Notebook

As someone who is balancing school and multiple jobs, my entire life seems to be inside my purse. However, not everything can fit into a purse (i.e., a pencil case and other storage tools). Thus, small items, like pens and pencils, get lost in the dreaded abyss that is the bottom of my bag and I end up having to dump out the contents of my bag just to find one pen. It’s frustrating and makes me feel/look unorganized. My product, the “Ready Book” is a sleek, multi-functional notebook with an attached pencil case. The binder is serving two purposes at once, holding the notebook together and holding your pens. The pen holder contains two compartments separated by a thin internal divider that allows you to separate items. Each compartment has its own cap cover which allows you to open and empty one compartment while leaving the other intact. The bottom of the pen holder has a general cap that allows you to empty both compartments at once. Having multiple access points to put in and take out your pens improves accessibility and overall efficiency. These caps are attached to the pen container to prevent them from getting lost and rendering the product useless. I kept the pen container transparent to make it easy for users to know what’s inside and avoid wasting time opening the wrong compartment. The goal of this product is to improve organization and save space. A busy person like me needs everything quick and handy. Having these accessibility and visibility features helps cut down any time I would have spent looking for a pen.
