Check in (30 min)

Let’s talk about anything on your mind. We can hold off on research unit stuff for now and when we get other stuff addressed and finished, we can shift in that direction.

Research Unit Prompts and Lesson Design (30-60 min)

Let’s workshop your research project prompts to start.

Then I want to transition into thinking about what your lessons like like in relation to the prompt you design. You can write the best or worst prompt in the world, but that is way less important than what you do each class to get them to do the kind of writing you’d like them to work on.

Let’s look at the last two lessons you taught. Outline the plan.

Next, outline the plan for the next lesson you’ll teach.

Finally, sketch out a rough plan for what you will focus on each lesson leading up to a first and/or second draft of your research project.

Teaching Philosophy Last Draft to Next Draft (15-20 min)

Let’s talk about your next draft of your teaching philosophy due next week. In the first draft, I asked you to address 1-2 questions from the prompt. In this next draft, I want you to up it by at least 1: address 2-3 questions from the prompt.

Consider, too, how do you think and feel differently about teaching now compared to a few weeks ago?

Take some time to review the prompt and your previous draft and do some freewriting in response.

Next Time (2-5 min)

  • We will listen to Ghenwa’s podcast choice
  • Turn in your revised draft of your teaching philosophy
