I may be the only one to respond like this, but to be honest the 3D printer scared me. Don’t get me wrong, I think new advancements like this are awesome and creative, but still at the same time frightening. To me it just seems unnatural. I like technology, but technology I know I can control. The 3D printer to me seems a little out of control. Overall, its an amazing accomplishment but I don’t think I will be buying one anytime soon.

Why is it out of control? Why is it unnatural? Those are pretty big statements. Try to unpack them. I want to know why 3D printing frightens you.
Jessica, I do respect your opinion and i wont pretend to change it, but consider that this type of printer is able to create anything you might like that can fit of course, in the makerbot printer.
I understand that the presentation of the size of the printer, might scare you, but the outcome of what you create makes it exiting and unique.
I think if one day you give your self a try of create and print something that you might like, you will understand better the purpose of the makerbot printer, and hopefully will not scare you and afterwards, capable of control it without restrictions or being afraid of its use 🙂
Jessica… Although at first I was amazed at this technology but now when I go back and think about it even I get scared. Not because of its size but because of the potential it has. On one hand it can be constructively in almost every field of career, but on the other hand it can used to cause destruction in the world. Think about all the people who can create guns sitting at home using the printer and then use it for destructive purposes.
Jessica, I only want to say that technological advancements does allow for new possibilities, and that yes not all of them good, but technology is inanimate (for now) and its up to how people use it. If people are going to do bad things they are going to do it. I prefer to think of the wonders like the ability to create medicine at home, the ability to create things you’ve only dreamed of before. For ever lunatic out there, there is a hero. Or so I hope.
