There are many platforms that I have used to write on, some of them are private and not shared with anyone and some that I have shared with everyone that follows me on social media. I usually write most of the information down on the notes app on my phone so I don’t forget something that was important. This is private because the notes are saved to my phone and not backed up to some cloud and the only way to access them is by having my phone passcode. Some of the private sites that I use are Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. All of my social media accounts are private so if someone wants to see what’s on my profile they would have to first send a follow or friend request and then it would be up to me to allow them to see my profile or not. On Snapchat, I use the there chat more than iMessages or Instagram messenger because I find it to be more private than the rest. When you send a message or image as a snap they automatically disappear from both sides of the message. Snapchat also lets us know if the image was screenshotted or saved to there phone giving us a better idea of whats going on with your information.
However, some of these sites also have a public side towards them. Facebook shows your profile and some of your data even if your profile is private. I believe that Facebook is made so that people get a small glimpse of who you are so that the person wanting to follow someone is actually following the right person, instead of a random person. When you’re on Snapchat people can only see your Bitmoji and your name. The only way people could add you is by your username or QR code which makes it harder to find you. Also on Instagram, it only shows your profile picture which cant be enlarged and also blanks out all of your followers so that if a person isn’t following you they can’t get any real information on you.
If someone’s private writing or information was turned into public information it would affect a lot of people because they might have sent information like credit cards which would make them a target of credit card scams. Also someones private life might be different than the way they portray themselves to the public which would maybe cause people to unfriend them.
